Case Study: Lining an Open Concrete Water-Storage Tank
GroundGuard™ maintains impermeability and puncture resistance under exposure to environmental extremes resulting in a longer lifespan with little to no maintenance.
Tank Lining for a Manufacturing Facility in Northern California
The Challenge
The pet food factory had an open water-storage tank for fire-suppression and irrigation purposes at the plant. The concrete foundation of the tank had numerous large cracks resulting in significant water loss. Due to leakage there was a muddy area outside the tank overgrown with weeds.
The Solution
The tank was drained and dried to provide a clean surface for application. The sides at the bottom were sandblasted to remove rust and blemishes for proper surface preparation.
The Results
With this GROUNDGUARD™ installation, the tank was refilled with water and returned to service in two days. The leakage problems were eliminated and the mud around the tank dried out so the weeds stopped growing. The client saved on their water bills while being able to forgo the cost and permitting required to build and install a new tank.
